For this series I needed a catchier title than just “Twin Worlds” which is what the books are called in my mind.
That’s because most of it takes place in a system where two planets orbit each other, in perfect sync. Yes, there’s even an origin myth that explains how that happens, basically as a competition between two goddesses.
But I digress.
Introduction
This is a story with more main characters than I ever had in a book (well, except the Mengarian folks), namely Judy Ramirez and Sara Miller from Earth, as well as Prince Kreshanaris and the guard Krighen from Langallen.
By a combination of unfortunate events, both Judy and Sara end up on Langallen, with Judy being “babysat” by the guard who caught her, and Sara in the company of the prince who is a wanted criminal at that point.
My cast has lots of problems, of course, and the two young women have to deal with being snatched up and dumped into another world without any say and only the meager promise of having support while building a new life. Since it’s me telling their story, they barely get a moment to catch their breath, however, with one thing and another.
Eventually, they all get thrown together as a group, learn to understand each other, discover new strengths and abilities – very much a YA setting, even though Krighen is a bit older than the others. I don’t intend to add spice, either.
Years ago, when I was writing these, I played with Artbreeder (yeah, another image AI, one that’s older than most) to make portraits, which I’ll share in a blog post soon.
Anyway. Here’s book 1:
Steps of Courage
An ailing Queen. A forbidden Portal. Two young women in a new world with Magick.
When Prince Kreshanaris sneaks to Earth, he doesn’t know that his quest to save his mother is a nasty trap. Even worse, two young women from Earth are snatched up during the fights with the portal guards, doomed to spend their lives on the Twin Worlds where magick exists.
Judy is assigned to the guard Krighen, who caught her. Putting up with the dour warrior is a challenge of its own, not to mention adapting to the fact she’ll never see her father again.
Sara, on the other hand, is held with the prince. When they escape together and make their way through the dangerous forests of Langallen, they grow close, especially as she’s missing her bestie, Judy. When Sara is reunited with Judy against all odds, the real adventure only begins.
Can Judy and Sara make a new life on a new world? Can Kreshanaris help his mother despite the intrigue? And what is Krighen’s deadly secret?

There will be (at least) two more books in the series, Paths of Control and Trials of Power. Alas, I still have to finish writing them, and writing is hard these days. But they will happen! The covers say so!
As you can see, I’m not done telling the story of who is trying to usurp power and who is threatening not only the prince, but all of his friends, as well.
