The Books Are Here!

Originally, I wanted to give you the English version of the update about the alien cat stuff today – but then something much more exiting happened!

Last week, the publisher of my co-authored novel sent email with the cover picture – you’ll remember my excited blog post about that. Well, he also announced he would be sending out my proof copy and the author’s copies I ordered from him. Nothing much happened, and so I emailed him yesterday to find out what was going on.

Turns out, he had sent out the package just as he had promised. But it hadn’t arrived. So he traced his package online and found that it had been “delivered” last Saturday! And I didn’t get any notice – usually the DHL people drop a notice in my mailbox when they leave a package with someone else.

Fortunately, I can count on my neighbors. I live in an old house with nine apartmens, and all my neighbors are friendly, cooperative and helpful people. I went to take out my trash and on my way back upstairs, I asked around but didn’t reach everyone. So I printed a notice about a missing package and taped it to the wall in the staircase.

The rest of the day wasn’t a good day. I was headachy, tired and somewhat depressed. But all that changed when someone knocked on my door at around 8pm. It was one of my wonderful neighbors, who had received the package, read my notice and come up to bring it to me! She thought that I was away on vacation, since I hadn’t come to pick it up.

My very own copy!

I couldn’t wait. I had to open the package right there, gripped one of the books and showed it to her where she was standing on the landing. Wheeee! The books are even nicer than I thought. A lovely, firm hardcover, easy to grip, not too heavy and not too thick. The smell is a bit strong, but the paper is nice and slightly yellow, the type is easy to read, and it looks very well set.

And …. Wheeeeee!

(PS: Watch for the alien cat stuff tomorrow.)
