such stories are full of adventure, daring deeds and great heroes.

My stories allow the reader to enter new worlds, be they fashioned along the lines of a mystical past, or a slightly altered version of our own Earth. I admire the worldbuilding of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth, the fun and imagination of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, and the unusual use of magic in Robin Hobb's Assassin and Liveship series. My favorite mystical creatues are dragons, not a surprise since my first introduction into the genre was via the Pern novels of Anne McCaffrey.

My fantasy tales also arise from the magic and adventure I find in the natural world. Thus the protagonists of my stories are not only sword fighters and mages, but also include geeky telepaths, grumpy dwarves, mystic dragons and wise whales. I enjoy using magic and the challenges of a strange world to test my heroes in unusual ways, dressing common tropes in new clothes of "fantastic" material.

Driven by the intense desire to watch my heroes at work, I've completed a few novels and several short stories. You can find more about those under "Writing".
